Surprise

We had ice cream (dessert before dinner for a change) and after noticing the stop-and-start rain, look what we saw. It was gone in about 2 minutes.

Isn't she lovely?

Some day ... maybe seven years from now ... it will fit her

Rikki in her own words...

"I don't want to go to school, mama."
What don't you like about school? "Well, they make me do things." Oh, so it's not anything terrible, it's just that you can't do whatever you want whenever you want to. "Well, it's terrible to me."

This one gave us a real giggle:

Rikki, did you have an accident?
"No, mom." Then how did your undies get wet? "Oh, that's just water." How did the water get down there? "Well, when I was drinking, it dripped on my derri-rere."

And then the next morning: "Remember last night when we were laughing about my real end?"

And here are some from my archives:

"Remember the time you maked Mac and cheese for breakfast?"

"See! I know how to inside out it!"

After I helped her with something, "That's very polite of you."

"Do you know how old is my hair now? 14." May 30 2013

"He's even specialer than me." June 2 2013

When I said it looked like she had diarrhea, she responded, "You mean like Diary Worm?" (Referring to her book, Diary of a Worm).

"Did you know I have candy in my heart?" June 6 2013

"Why did you pat me on the head very sweetly?" June 11, 2013

At Target: "I love you even more than these two floors." Nov 2013

"I'm sure there's no diarrhea coming out so I can have ice cream." Nov 2013

"I almost said diarrhea, but I didn't." Nov 2013

"That's just the wind coughing me." Fall 2013

Why she can't go to school the next day: "I'm going to cough on my friends." Fall 2013

Happy birthday mom!!

I was also convinced to dress up for my own birthday ;-)

Dressing up

In addition to dressing herself up - lately in her new favorite dress, this long dress, Rikki encourages me to dress "fancy" too. For our trip to Napa, I complied, wearing my own black-and-white striped number. Here we are on a vintage fire truck.

Growing up!!

Rikki has been sleeping in her own bed all night (ie instead of sneaking into mine), earning herself all sorts of privileges, like this pedicure.

Overdue pics from winter break

This is our trip to Sedona with Rikki's friend David and his parents Laura and Howard (also known as my college friend and her husband).
