It's in!

My travel approval was faxed to LA a couple of hours ago, now I am hoping to get a visa appointment no later than the rest of our group. This means we can fly out on Wednesday, but I could have to stay in China through June 10 or even longer. In Guangzhou, not my first choice destination in China. We will have just seven hours in my first choice - Shanghai. But at least we think we'll be picking up the Lucky Optimist just 9 or 10 days from now.
